Shantung silk is a highly prized and sought-after fabric. Its history has its roots in China thousands of years ago, specifically in the Shandong region, from which it takes its name.
Ours comes from Como, which continues to be a crossroads between East and West for the production of the world's finest silks.
It is the result of a double silk burr, produced by two silkworms building the cocoon together, an extremely rare occurrence, which is why it is so precious. Technically, it would be the result of a defect. Nevertheless, given its rarity, it is precisely its imperfections, flecks, lumps, buttons and knots that become key elements of its uniqueness and recognisability.
Shantung silk is also durable and wear-resistant. Its surface is embossed and soft to the touch and offers a delicate iridescent sheen. This silk is perfect for making highly sought-after ties. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, and is hypoallergenic and perfect for both day and evening wear. In addition, it is suitable for more informal and casual occasions.
When you remove your tie after wearing it, you can do two things: keep it lying in a box or at most folded in half, or use a tie hanger to keep it in the wardrobe.
Under no circumstances should a tie be washed in a washing machine or with water. The tie should be taken to the laundry for dry cleaning. The tie should not be ironed either, neither dry or steam. At most, to brighten up the creases caused by wearing it and the fibres a bit, you can distribute a jet of steam from a distance.
In any case, if you should happen to stain or in some way ruin your tie, we suggest that you contact us so that we can, if necessary, intervene with a restoration of the product thanks to our regeneration service.
It all began in our factory in Pontecagnano in the province of Salerno, where what was initially the vision of two women, mother and daughter (Marisa and Veronica), has become a family affair that dedicates its days to the creation of unique products.
Here, since 1994, tradition and passion have come together to give life to this tie and all our other articles, striving every day for new materials and new styles.
