The unlined wool and cashmere blend has a virtue: it drapes on the chest with real weight without being stiff. On this grey background, the blue and brown Pied de Coq pattern is not the usual standard office geometry. Constructed with three folds and hand-hemmed, it is a textural tie that changes the visual weight of a winter outfit starting from the texture.

Style and Pairing Advice

  • Morning at the agency: Unstructured navy blue flannel jacket, soft light blue oxford cotton shirt, forest green chino trousers. On your feet, dark brown pebble grain leather derbies. The Pied de Coq serves as a perfect bridge between the cool tones of the upper half and the warm tones of the details.
  • Informal lunch: Chunky charcoal grey wool shawl collar cardigan, soft white denim shirt, straight selvedge jeans and dark brown suede Chelsea boots. The tie is worn slightly loosened, a bare texture that dialogues with the knitwear.
  • Evening downtown: Single-breasted camel coat, mud brown tweed blazer, light blue pinstripe shirt and dark grey flannel tailored trousers. A look built on heavy layers, where the tie's lack of lining removes excess volume on the neck.

The tailor's advice: The wool and cashmere fabric, even if unlined, has a dense and textural body. There is no sense in forcing it into bulky knots. The simple knot (Four-in-Hand) is the choice to make: it brings out a natural asymmetry and creates a compact, clean dimple under the collar.

Product care: Dry cleaning entrusted to expert hands. Never iron wool directly, use only a jet of steam from a few centimeters away to reshape the fabric. Store untied and hanging. If one day it wears out or needs fixing, there is our Tie Hospital — the only regeneration service in Italy. Send it to us, it will come back as good as new.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the particularity of an unlined wool tie? +
An unlined tie does not have an internal lining at the base, allowing a glimpse of the fabric folds and the hand-rolled hem. Being made of wool and cashmere, this ensures a natural drape and removes that stiffness typical of winter ties. It is a detail that stands out immediately.
Which knot is most suitable for this fabric? +
The wool blend already has its own specific weight. Avoid double knots like the Windsor, which would create too massive a block. The simple knot, or Four-in-Hand, is the only logical choice: asymmetrical and of the right proportions.
Can I use it in formal contexts or only casual ones? +
The Pied de Coq pattern and the matte texture shift it towards separates or business casual. It works perfectly at the agency or under a tweed blazer. It is not the right tie if the invitation requires a formal ceremonial suit.
How do I make the folds of the knot disappear? +
Wool is resilient but must be treated well. Never pull the knot to take off the tie, always untie it. To remove any wrinkles, simply leave it hanging in the bathroom while you shower: the steam will relax the fibers in a few minutes.
