SILK SHANTUNG

Silk shantung is a highly valued and sought-after fabric. Its history dates back to ancient China, specifically in the Shandong region, from which it derives its name. Ours comes from Como, which continues to be a crossroads connecting East and West for the production of the finest silks in the world.

It is the result of a double silk cocoon produced by two silkworms that build the cocoon together, a rare event, which is why it is so precious. Technically, it would be the result of a defect. Nevertheless, given its rarity, its imperfections, flaws, clumps, buttons and knots become fundamental elements of its uniqueness and recognizability.

Silk shantung is also durable and resistant to wear. Its surface is textured and soft to the touch and offers a delicate shimmering brightness. This silk is perfect for creating highly sought-after ties. It is warm in winter and cool in summer; moreover, it is hypoallergenic and suitable for both day and evening wear. Additionally, it is appropriate for more informal and casual occasions.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT

When you take off the tie after wearing it, you can do two things: keep it flat in a drawer or at most folded in half, or use a tie hanger to keep in the wardrobe.

The washing of a tie should definitely not be done in a washing machine or with water. The tie should be taken to the dry cleaner for dry cleaning. The tie should not be ironed, neither dry nor steam. At most, to freshen up the folds caused by wearing it and the fibers, you can distribute a shot of steam at a distance.

In any case, if you happen to stain or somehow ruin your tie, we suggest you contact us to potentially intervene with a product restoration thanks to our regeneration service.

HANDCRAFTED IN ITALY

Everything begins in our workshop in Pontecagnano, in the province of Salerno, where what initially was the vision of two women, mother and daughter (Marisa and Veronica), has become a family story that dedicates its days to creating unique products.

Here, since 1994, tradition and passion merge to give life to this tie and all our other items, aiming every day at researching new materials and styles.
